Prepare for your Legally Blonde audition, or any future auditions.
“Sing Out & Get The Part!”
a VOS Audition Workshop
Saturday, October 12, 2024
1:00pm-4:00pm
Open to all experience levels and ages (13+).
(Auditioning for Legally Blonde is not a requirement for attendance.)
Auditions are an interesting beast. While there is no better way than “just do it” in order to learn how to navigate them and the feelings associated with them, good preparation and an understanding of the process on the part of the auditionees can provide a better and a more relaxed overall experience for all those in front and behind the audition table. Open to all ages 13+. For more information contact training@victoriaonstage.ca

AUDITION WORKSHOP
(3 hours)
Everyone will take part in the 3 hour workshop which includes an overview of the audition process, how to prepare, and a mock audition. There are only six spots available for Participants ($20) who will have the chance to perform their selected material in the mock audition, so grab one of these desirable spots before they’re gone. All others will attend the workshop as Observers ($10). We learn a lot by watching! All attendees can participate in the Q&A at the end of the workshop.
Part 1: Get Your Ducks In A Row – Preparation & Materials (1 hour)
- Resume: What to include, how to structure.
- Headshot: What’s a headshot and what makes a good one.
- Do Your Research: What/who are you auditioning for.
- Song Choice: Find material that presents you at your best.
- Music & Audition Binder: How to prepare your music, what to include in audition binder.
- What to Wear: Dress for the part, get ready to move.
- Orientation/Find Your Space: Where to go? What to do or say?
- Audition Etiquette: Does & Don’ts
Part 2: Breaking the Ice – Mock Auditions (2 hours)
- Six singers, 15-20 minutes per Participant to present a song in a “mock audition” setting, with time for feedback, revisiting approach, reworking material, and present a second time. Open to all skill levels and audition experience. Participants will perform in front of workshop attendees. Real auditions take place in front of a panel and call-backs usually take place in front of other auditionees, so this is great practice. Everyone has nerves, but VOS strives for a friendly, supportive, atmosphere.
- Slots for Singers is now FULL – If you would like to be put on the waitlist for Singers, please register as an Observer (below) and contact training@victoriaonstage.ca.
