Victoria On Stage Musical Theatre Society (VOS) prides itself on making its auditions accessible and available to all performers.
Everyone is welcome at VOS!
We encourage performers of all ages, genders, race, sexual orientations, social and socioeconomic backgrounds to audition for any show or role that they feel drawn to. Our commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive audition experience for each artist who comes through our doors is integral to the success of our Society.
What To Expect:
The format and expectations for auditions are determined by each Directorial Team, including the Director, Music Director, and Choreographer. Be sure to carefully review the audition announcement for each show, as it will include specific instructions.
- Each audition slot usually lasts 5-10 minutes.
- First auditions typically involve singing a short excerpt from a Broadway show and learning a brief choreography routine. The song selection is decided by the Directorial Team and may either be a piece from the show itself, or a song in a similar style chosen by the performer. The exact details of each audition will be included in the audition announcement.
- If a specific song from the show is required, VOS will provide music tracks in advance, which will also be used during the audition. If the team allows performers to choose their own song, VOS will provide a piano accompanist, and performers must bring sheet music as outlined in the audition announcement.
- Performers are encouraged to have fun, make strong character choices and make it your own. We can’t wait to see what you do!
Video Auditions: Not available for in-person auditions but still want to submit? VOS offers performers the opportunity to submit a video audition. Specific requirements and submission details will be included in the audition announcement.
