Everyone is welcome at VOS!
We encourage performers of all ages, genders, race, sexual orientations, social and economical backgrounds to audition for any show or role that they feel drawn to. Our commitment to harvesting a safe and inclusive audition experience for each artist who comes through our doors is integral to the success of our society.
What To Expect:
The format and expectations for auditions are determined by each production team, including the Director, Music Director, and Choreographer. Be sure to carefully review the audition announcement for each show, as it will include specific instructions. In general, auditions typically include:
- First auditions typically involve singing a short excerpt from a show and learning a brief choreography routine. The song selection is decided by the Production Team and may either be a piece from the show itself or a song in a similar style, chosen by the auditionee. The exact details of each audition will vary based on the preferences of the Team and be included in the audition announcement.
- Each audition slot usually last 5-10 minutes.
- If a specific song from the show is required, VOS will provide music tracks in advance, which will also be used during the audition. If the team prefers to allow song choices, VOS will supply a piano accompanist, and auditionees will need to bring sheet music as outlined in the audition announcement.
- Not available for auditions but still want to submit? VOS provides any performer the opportunity to submit a video audition. Specific information about what to include in the video audition will be specified in the audition announcement.
- Performers are encouraged to have fun, make strong character choices and make it your own. We can’t wait to see what you do!
