Ursula Szkolak, Ballet

Ursula Szkolak was born and raised in Toronto (ON) where she trained at the National Ballet School of Canada and eventually went on to continue her training at the Kirov Academy in Washington, DC. She embarked on her professional ballet career at the age of 17, and during the span of her decade-long career, she was lucky enough to perform as a soloist in companies in Canada, The United States, and Germany. In 2005 she moved to Victoria where she danced with both Ballet Victoria and subsequently Canadian Pacific Ballet as a principal dancer.

Ursula retired from the ballet stage in 2011, and although she could be found on occasion back on stage as a guest dancer in various ballet productions throughout North America, she started to focus on her other passions: teaching dance and theatre acting. Ursula has been seen in Victoria stages in shows with Victoria Operatic Society, Langham Court Theatre, Theatre Inconnu, and Attitude Theatre.

Since 2011, Ursula has been sharing her passion and knowledge for dance as a member of the faculty of both Allegro School of the Performing Arts and Victoria Academy of Ballet as well as being a substitute ballet teacher for CCPA. Ursula is the founder and owner of, an online dance training platform that offers live and interactive classes dedicated to making dance training accessible to all skill levels.
