What Do We Do?

so much more than just sing and dance…

VOS is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization. VOS was established in 1945 by an intrepid band of women looking to bring quality live musical theatre to Victoria, and give aspiring young singers and performers the opportunity to share their talents. With about 150 volunteers putting in around 34,000 volunteer hours annually, VOS is proud to carry on producing musical theatre in the CRD for its 75th year!

VOS’s core mission centres around its values of professionalism, commitment, diversity, leadership, and inovation. VOS is run by a active and dedicated volunteers board of directors, and their newly appointed General Manager. The board works tirelessly to ensure the VOS values are present in everything they do!

Over the years, VOS has produced Broadway Musicals, Light Operas, and Gilbert & Sullivan productions, using and promoting local talent on and off the stage. The Society strives for quality, professional productions, while endeavouring to maintain affordable family prices.

VOS provides and encourages training of young artists in all facets of musical theatre production. The society is able to provide theatrical workshops, as well as practical hands-on experience through our annual productions at the historic McPherson Playhouse and special events. Additionally VOS often provides mentorship training in areas of directing and design to budding theatre artists.

VOS takes the future of musical theatre artists to heart, and recently began offering summer camps and after school classes to students aged 8 to 18. Theses camps and classes are aimed at all levels of experience, with a primary goal of spreading a love of musical theatre to the next generation!

VOS’s legal name is Victoria On Stage Musical Theatre Society and is a federally incorporated not-for-profit corporation set up to deliver programs for the benefit of the public good. VOS is also a registered charity (#119285039RR0001) which allows the company to issue tax receipts for donations.
